Job title: Associate Director, Respiratory Biology
David Rowlands leads the Integrated Discovery Biology group within the Respiratory Disease Area and is one of three co-leads of the respiratory research department at the Novartis Institutes for Biomedical Research (NIBR) in Cambridge, MA. The discovery biology group is a multidisciplinary team of scientists leveraging techniques including complex microfluidic and 3D co-culture systems, multi-omics analysis of assay data and patient samples such as single-cell RNAseq and proteomics to uncover mechanisms responsible for epithelial dysfunction in chronic lung diseases for therapeutic intervention. David obtained his undergraduate in degree in physiology from the University of Edinburgh and completed PhD training at King’s College London. Prior to Joining Novartis, David undertook postdoctoral research in pulmonary physiology at Columbia University, NYC.
