Yasmina Bauer

Translational Data Science Lead Department of Biomedicine

Yasmina Bauer is a biomarker and translational science leader with over 25 years of experience spanning drug discovery through clinical development, with a strong focus on fibrosis and idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. Currently serving as Translational Data Science Lead at the Department of Biomedicine in Basel, and previously Head of Clinical Biomarkers at Galapagos, she has led the integration of biomarker strategies across fibrosis and immunology programs, enabling deeper understanding of disease biology and supporting patient stratification approaches.

Her work bridges preclinical and clinical development, leveraging molecular biology, omics data, and data science to identify clinically actionable biomarkers and novel therapeutic targets. With deep expertise in IPF and fibrotic diseases, Yasmina focuses on translating complex biological insights into strategies that improve trial design and therapeutic outcomes.

Seminars

Wednesday 30th September 2026
Insights from the ISABELA Trials and the Path Toward Risk Stratification & Prognostic Biomarkers in IPF
1:30 pm
  • Reviewing analyses from the ISABELA Phase 3 trials demonstrating how circulating biomarkers such as MMP-7 and CCL18 are associated with disease progression and mortality in IPF
  • Understanding how large clinical datasets enable validation of prognostic biomarkers and support the development of composite risk models to stratify patients by disease trajectory
  • Discussing how these insights may support patient enrichment strategies and more efficient trial design as the IPF therapeutic pipeline expands
